EPISODE 19: Fall Spirits

Happy #Equinox! It’s our season, #Autumn. #Mabon. #Halloween is only a few weeks away, and Fox & Phil have lots of spooky and horror to fill the time. Horror personality, one of the #Crypticon Ghoul Girls and host on iHorror, Friday nights, Kino McFarland (Demented), co-hosts this episode to talk about her work in film and her life as a model, escape artist and circus performer. This is the third episode to be part of the programming at #Para-X on Saturday nights, 6PM dead. They record on location from Comic Zen in Lansdale PA to celebrate its recent opening on Cruise Night in Montgomery County.

Partly sponsored by Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing:

Our co-host Kino McFarland - @KinoMcFarland

With a love for theatrics and a passion for writing, Kino McFarland began building a career of storytelling through word and film at a young age. She was a valued member of her high school’s drama club’s stage crew and later went on to perform at The Ohio Renaissance Festival as a street character.

The sideshow bug bit Kino at the Renaissance Festival and she began performing with the Pickled Brothers Circus and FreakShow Deluxe as Hannah Bel. Her skills as a glass walker, escape artist, and more have allowed her to perform with bands such as the Insane Clown Posse and GWAR. While traveling with sideshows, Kino refined her writing skills with Full Sail University.

Kino writes primarily dark subjects with a hint of comedy, which can be attributed to her experience with vaudevillian performers and showmen. Vampires, witches, and ghosts are some of her most beloved subjects, as are the many people and personalities that she has encountered while traveling the country. She firmly believes that only an oblivious person can write a boring character. The best characters are all around us.

Her film credits range from being a Production Assistant and Behind the Scenes Photographer to directing and writing her own films, such as Hangry, The Beasts of the Earth (winner of Best Sound Design at the Seattle 48 Hour Film Horror Project), and Declawed (2nd place winner at Cine-City). She is currently working on a webseries called Kino's Asylum for iHorror.com's Youtube channel in which she discusses the horror genre as her horror host personality, Kino B. Demented. She has dedicated her life to horror and can often be found with the Crypticon Ghoul Girls in Seattle, Washington.

“Start meeting people who can get you onto sets.”

The true ghost story this episode is from a New England resident, Renee Johnson—a classic ghost tale of the true sight of children and saying goodbye to family, read by voice actor Jamey McCartney. Grampie.

Randi Stinson from Cats Meow Mystical Shop returns to tell the story of an encounter with a man and the demon who owns his soul. Her sister Jini joins in the telling. It’s a story of when demonic oppression infected her life with Horse Flies. Never sell your soul to hell.

“The demon did not want the book in my story.”

Randi Stinson, owner of Cats Meow Mystical Store in Lansdale, PA that supplies pagans their material for spells, rituals and worship, also with a fantastic catalog online.

Fox plays another song from the Swamp Music Players—a dark tale of Atlanta called The Street Sweeper. Can you decipher his truth? He’s the street sweeper, baby, and he’s going to sweep these streets clean.

Swamp Music Players is a retro-futuristic swamp band playing Swamp Blues, Swamp Rock, Swamp Pop and Cosmic Americana. Swamp genres is at the root of Rock'N'Roll, Country and the Blues. We are a Canada and Netherlands campus-charting band with FM radio airplay in several countries and deep social media penetration. SMP had jumped into the escape pod somewhere in the 1980's and only just returned to push forward this music. Dark and atmospheric swamp tunes, southern flavor all merging with retro cinematic elements that may remind you of some late night movie soundtrack you half remembered.

T. Fox Dunham in their usual banter tells his true story about how while kayaking in Cape May, NJ last weekend, his boat sank, and he was nearly entombed in the mud. They also feature another edition of #Clown News to report the latest rash of psychological attacks and #clownsightings from #clowns along the American east coast. The clowns are coming.

They end the show with a diabolical tale brought to them from Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing. One Death at a Time tells the story of a frustrated Satan dealing with an infuriating new soul in Hell. Written by Soren James.

The Devil frowned, and began irritably shouting, “What on Earth are you talking about? Have you no conception of who I am? I could kick-start the apocalypse in your arse if I wanted. I could...What are you doing? You can't walk away from me!” He turned to his cohorts. “Famine! Bring her back here.”One Death at a Time

Soren James is a writer and visual artist who recreates himself on a daily basis from the materials at his disposal, continuing to do so in an upbeat manner until one day he will sumptuously throw his drained materials aside and resume stillness without asking why.

This is the last episode before their paranormal  adventure begins in October, counting down to Halloween. Coming up in future episodes: Ghost stories from #Gettysburg featuring the History Channel’s Mark Nesbitt, several paranormal investigators telling their ghost stories, tales of Pennsylvania, new songs, interviews and live events. Come see What Are You Afraid Of? at the King of Prussia Mall, October 15th at 5PM in Pennsylvania at Uncanny Comics.

EPISODE 18: WITCHES

Phil Thomas & T. Fox Dunham record on location from The Cats Meow Mystical Shop in #Lansdale, Pennsylvania (Montgomery County) in the Philadelphia region. They not only bring their usual assortment of #paranormal & horror content (like a box of chocolates made from shadows and gooey macabre) but they also talk to several surprise guests who visit on Bike Night in Lansdale.

Psychic Tarot Card Readings
Candles, Oils. Incense, Herbs & Roots, Crystals, Jewelry + more!

This is their first episode on #Para-X Radio! They join a spooky schedule of programming about the paranormal from many brother and sister explorers of the darkness. Thank you for asking them to join the family! Their new episodes will debut at 6PM on Saturday night, then it will be available from all the major podcast services such as #iHeart Radio, #iTunes, GooglePlay, etc.

Now because the show is going on a weekly schedule, Fox & Phil can finally relax a bit. They’re changing the format so they can talk to their audience more, share their experiences and stories. For example, in this episode, they discuss the plague of clown sightings happening in the south: its validity and basis in #folklore.

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ALL THESE #CLOWNS? Is this how the world ends?

Fox interviewed the Lady-Medium, Jean Westbrook MA, CH, CMI. Jean is a local #medium who spent the last 30 years exploring her abilities, growing them and helping others on their search. She doesn’t see the future because she believes in free will.

“My readings provide an emotional spiritual mirror to help you gain clarity so you can make positive conscious choices yourself. I am here to empower you. Cats Meow has been a wonderful place for me because Randi’s group has been very supportive.”

The true ghost story comes from western musician Suzen JueL about a house that won’t forget, The Window. And Randi Biba Stinson, owner of Cats Meow, and her sister, Jini, share one of her true ghost stories, Louise. He was the old shop owner, and they had to come to terms over a misunderstanding that crossed worlds.

They end the show with a song from a band in British Columbia: The Swamp Music Players. Fox plays The Devil’s Tooth to showcase their unique and mournful sound. It’s from their album Timeless Cool. The Swamp Music Players are a retro futuristic band with a passion for Swamp Rock, Swamp Blues, Swamp Pop and Cosmic Americana.
